Bush's magical powers

Welcome friends to the first post in my brand spankin' new blog. This is actually going to be a blog dedicated to my college adventures which are abundant. This one isn't going to be though. George W Bush has that effect on people...Well, the rant that is coming is caffeine induced so I guess it still kinda fits.

So I just watched his announcement about the auto industry bailout. The part of me that has some faith in humanity was relieved to see that the US government wants to save thousands of jobs across the continent. The realistic, cynical part of me realized what is actually going to happen. I watched a news report a few months ago about a CEO of some Japanese airline who cut his salary from something close to a million dollars to ninety thousand, what his workers were making, to keep the airline going. I will be very surprised if the North American auto industry does anything like this. They have been given three months to work out a sustainable budget. By the end of January we aren't going to see CEO s getting laid off or getting pay cuts. It's going to be the chumps on the assembly lines that have been relying on their jobs to do something as selfish as feed their families. I've seen a lot of people close to me lose their jobs after working in a plant for 20 or 30 years. It's not right. I've been there too. I think if Marx was around his blog would be chock full right about now. I don't even think we realize how much they rely on us, the powerless proles, any longer.
